What Makes Parent Kill Daughters In China

Human history is filled with incidents of grave intensity where humans carried out genocide and killed their fellow human beings ruthlessly. However, this example is very recent one, depicting human cruelty.
A girl was born in a village to a Chinese family in north-east China, and they named her "招弟", which in Chinese means "summon boy".

And there have been fewer and fewer needles in the house since she was born. Her parents continuously pinned her with needles until she could not bear it. She died with pain, but more significantly, humanity died with her. This accident is not only the one off example. Chinese in different underdeveloped areas actually believe that if they kill a girl within the family or sphere of the family with needles, the very next child will be a boy.
The One-Child policy added to the gravity of the situation as policy didn't allow people to have the second child unless the first one is dead. However, the policy is not to be blamed for this piece of insolence. People would have done so even if there was no one-child policy installed because they believed that doing so would bestow them with a boy and scare the evil female spirits out of the family.

Every time I think about this piece of outrage, I feel numbed. How could they do so? How on parents can kill their child in such an oppressive manner. Even more disturbing is the fact that this practice is still going on in different parts of China. People murderously kill their baby girls to scare evil spirits out of their houses. When I searched online, I found out that there are still cases which are not reported to media. The most recent case reported was in last month. It makes me feel sad about human existence and nature.

I want to point out in the cases reported, Police has carried out thorough investigation and culprits are punished for their acts. However, there seems to be an unending cycle of child violence in underdeveloped regions of China.
